DINOSAUR DAY

I love your Stegosaurus smile
And your Tyrannosaurus toes
I love your Allosaurus eyes
And your Brontosaurus nose
You’ve got that Triceratops head
An Iguanodon tail
With a Dilophosaurus brain
Atop Protoceratops in tails

Chorus
Baby, You’re all Dinosaur
Every step of the way
It’s not what you think
If you think they’re extinct
Welcome to Dinosaur Day!

Show me your Pterodactyl teeth
And your Anchisaurus skin
That Protoceratops hair
Above your Baryonyx grin
Oh, those Dimetradon arms
Your little Pleseosaurus leg
Give me your Barosaurus hand
Made from an Apatosaurus egg

I am your Maiasaura mother
He is your Dinosukas dad
You’ve got an Anchisaurus sister
You’re Megasastrodon, my lad

UPSIDE DOWN WORLD

Upside down world
Where a boy is a girl
And a cat is a dog
And my sister’s a frog
What a wonderful world
Turned upside down
A smile upside down is a frown

A painter would dance
A dancer would sing
My room would be neat
Miss Crabapple is sweet
I could get used to this wonderful sight
I’d stay up all day every night

Trees could be flowers
Birds could be bees
Kids could go flying with ease
Right side up on the flying trapeze
Upside down on the flying trapeze

You should be me
I should be you
When the ocean is dry
You can swim in the sky
Hold onto your hats as we’re spinning around
If the world would be turned upside down

If the world could be turned upside down
The world should be turned upside down!

MONKEY REVOLUTION

From Jeanine: I wrote this song for our planet. Let us all respect and love her. And to monkeys everywhere, may you always have a rain forest to call home.

We live in a vanishing world
It was a tropical paradise
Running free with a Simian girl
Through the trees was really nice
Until they cut our forest down
There’s nowhere left to run around

Chorus
Time for Monkey Revolution
Monkey Revolution
Help us find a home
In the Banana Zone
If the rain forest disappears, tell me
What will the humans do?
What will be left in the atmosphere
We need a shelter, not a zoo!
Everybody needs a place of their own
Where they can feel safe and their babies can roam

Chorus

We can live together, Man and Monkey friends
There’s enough land to go around and around
Deep in the jungle where the river bends
We’ll be walking on sacred ground
So much to share on Mother Earth
We know how much our planet is worth

Time for Monkey Revolution
Taking it to the trees
Monkey Revolution
Help us won’t you please?
Together we’ll find a home
In the Banana Zone
You’re lucky when you’re doin’ the Monkey

TEDDY LOVES ME

From Jeanine: I wrote this song for my Ben and his Teddy. Teddy does not attend Middle School,he is a stay at home Teddy now.

I don’t go anywhere without Teddy Bear
He has been with me since I was just two
He used to be white , he used to have hair
He used to be handsome when he was brand new
I don’t care, Teddy Bear looks great to me
His beauty’s inside him
And I’ll be beside him
Whatever may be
My Teddy loves me
ooo, ooo, ooo la la la

I named him Michael, and he calls me Ben
He knows all my secrets, but he’ll never tell
We go on adventures for days without end
I know I am lucky to be loved so well
We stick together, we’re never apart
Though he seems to get smaller
As I’m growing taller
He’s down to my knee
My Teddy loves me!
ooo, ooo, ooo la la la

He’s soft and he’s furry on my pillow at night
He’s not afraid of the dark when I’m near
I sing him a song and turn out the light
He’s there in my dreams, in the morning he’s here
September is coming, it’s time to start school
I can’t leave my Teddy
I don’t think he’s ready
So I’ll take him with me
My Teddy loves me

DRIVING AROUND

From Jeanine: Ha ha ha ha ha

Are we there yet, are we there yet?
Two voices sing in unison:
How much longer, how much farther?
We’re hungry and we’re bored
We’re totally ignored
It’s only been ten minutes, seems like more!
When will we be there, got to get there
There must be something I can do
There’s no crayons, where’s my Game Gear?
I’m thirsty and I’m tired
I feel so uninspired
It’s only been an hour are we here?

Chorus
When you’re Drivin’ around
There’s no time to slow down
There is here, and here is there
And we’re not getting anywhere
There goes another town
But we’re still driving around!

Can we stop now, can we slow down?
I can’t sit this still so long
There’s no room here, in the back seat
And the dog is looking kind of green
My sister says I’m being mean
If we don’t get there soon, I’m going to scream!

Chorus

FUN!

From Jeanine: Moms, this one’s for us!

No shoving, no biting, no pushing, no fighting
When are we going to have fun?
No scratching, no hitting, no shouting, no spitting
What can we do to have fun?
You can’t do this, you can’t do that
What can we do to have fun?
No pinching, no staring, no pulling, no swearing
What is there left to be done?
No running, no climbing, no screaming, no whining
Mom we just need to have fun
Fun, none, fun, none
Mom we just need to have fun!

Chorus
Fun, fun, mom we are bored
You won’t let us do anything anymore
Children, you’re not listening
There is no limit, when you put your heart in it
Come on and get with it, Imagination’s the thing

You could color, go skating, pick flowers, face painting
All of the world to explore
Try walking, or hiking, go fishing, or biking
When you are done there is more
More, more, always more
When you are done there is more
Try reading and writing and games so exciting
There is a lot you can do
Kite flying, bead stringing, tell stories, try singing
Do anything you want to
Do, do, do , do... As long as it’s fun

Chorus
Fun, fun... Kids, I am bored
You won’t let me do anything anymore
Mommy, you’re not listening
There is no limit, when you put your heart in it
Come on and get with it
Imagination’s the thing!
It’s Fun!

TEST MY WINGS

From Jeanine: I wrote this song for my daughter Meghan who is now an honor student in High School and almost always gets her way.

After a hard day working in the classroom
I don’t like math and it doesn’t like me
All of those numbers swimming inside my head
Why don’t they see?
It’s easy to forget when your life is so hectic
We have a doggie and she wants to be fed
Why is it my job? Somehow this doesn’t add up
2 fair 4 me!

Chorus
I’m on the losing end of things
Low man on the Totem Pole
Everybody gets to pull my strings
When do I get to test my wings?

I have to deal with this boy in my classroom
He likes to pull on my ponytail
I told my teacher, all she said was: “Work it out
You’re a big girl.”
Sit near a bully, see how you feel
He won’t respond to my simple request
“Keep your hands to yourself and your eyes on your own
mathematics test!”

Chorus

Mom’s in the kitchen, she says I have to help her
While my brother gets to watch TV
We’ve got to work this division of labor out
More equally
Everybody nags me,
“Do your homework! Take a bath!”
When do I get to play?
My brother’s creepy friends are messing up my clean room
and I never get my way!

Chorus

GIVE UP THE LEMON FOR THE LIMES!

From Jeanine: Oh, to be on this beach right now!

Life is a lemon and we need a change
Somewhere to relax
Put your feet up and be safe
We haven’t had a break in too many days

Mom make reservations, and Dad find the time
Let’s go to the sea side
A dolphin can be my ride
I need a vacation, the tropics are fine!

Chorus
Diggin’ my feet in the white sand
Holding my mother’s brown hand
How I love these Caribbean climes
Give up the lemon for the limes!

Baby wants crab cakes and mamma takes the shrimp
Daddy’s in the water, swimming in Armani
Don’t you think it’s funny
The sharks are scared of him!

Chorus

MAGICAL VEGETABLE GARDEN

I like to squish my toes
Run through the tomatoes
See how the grapevine grows
Give me the garden hose
La La La, La La la, La la lah-ah-ah

Sprinkle the squash with glee
Radishes call to me, Hello!
For colorful greenery
It’s the sun and the rain and me.

Chorus
My garden is good to us,
From the eggplant to the carrots
Salad or asparagus
Green can be delicious
In a magical, vegetable garden
La La La, La La la, La la lah-ah-ah

Almost before your eyes
Zucchini grow in size
Strawberries make good pies
Remember to fertilize

Chorus

My garden is good to us
From the string beans to the lettuce
Cucumber and onions are a must
Green can be delicious
From your magical, vegetable garden
your magical, vegetable garden
La La La, La La la, La la lah-ah-ah

MRS. JOHNSON’S CHIHUAHUA!

From Jeanine: *warning: Can be scary!

Mrs. Johnson has a dog, she thinks he’s very nice
But I know better I’m not fooled, he’s tried to bite me twice!
When she wasn’t looking over here
Then he made his move, creeping on the carpet toward me
Showing me his teeth, growling like a beast
Headed down the hall straight for me
How can I get some peace of mind at piano lesson time?

Hides my pencil, chews my book, and then he acts surprised!
Don’t be fooled by the way he looks, he might be small in size
But he’s got trouble in his eyes!
And I don’t know why Mrs. Johnson doesn’t see him
Sharpening his nails while I do my scales
Waiting for the clock to free him
And chase me around the living room after my lesson’s through

Chorus
Pepe, why don’t you like me?
I like you, can’t we be friends?
How I wish that you’d like me
Piano lesson time would be easy
If you tell me how ya
Tame a mad Chihuahua named Pepe Johnson!

Here comes Wednesday afternoon
Oh no!
Piano lesson day
I wish it would be over soon, but I won’t run away
I’ll face him... stare him in the eye!
Read his doggy mind, find out why he wants to scare me
I wonder could it be, he’s afraid of me?
Just because I’m bigger... barely
Maybe he’s playing cat and mouse at Mrs. Johnson’s house.
Except I’m the mouse!

SNUGGLE BUGGLE

From Jeanine: Give someone a hug soon and let them know you love them.

I’m a little buggle, looking for a snuggle
Won’t you come and cuddle with me?
Come over and surround me
Wrap your arms around me
Snuggle as a buggle could be
You’re lighter, I’m lighter
We’re walking on air
Tighter and tighter
Hugging is the way to show you care so

Snuggle Buggle it would be no trouble
If you’d cuddle up with me!

Sometimes I just gotta
Like a a fish out of the water
Get a snuggle from you
Then I’m feeling better
Fits me like a sweater
Nothing but a snuggle will do
It warms me like sun shining
Melting away
Now is the best timing
Every day’s a snuggle day

Don’t want to burst your bubble
Only want to snuggle
Come and give a huggle to me
We can cut a ruggle
When we’re in a huddle
I love you and I know you love me
Caring is sharing
It’s better with two
Your heartbeat is so sweet
Every time I cuddle you

Snuggle Buggle it would be no trouble
If you’d cuddle up with me
Huggle up with me
Won’t you come and snuggle with me?

FURRY ELISE

From Jeanine: Yes, there really was a Furry Elise and she played our piano!

She’s a piano playing hamster
Taking a walk down the keys
If only she could do my practice... for me
She is the maestro of musical mice
Her toe tapping rhythm is perfectly nice
As she runs in her wheel every night
Keeping the family awake with Sonata Moonlight
All of my friends come to hear her
Running her race up the keys
Andante! Allegro! Go faster... Furry Elise!
Nighttime concerto in Hamster A Flat
Arpeggios running away from the cat
It’s fun to listen to that
I can’t believe what a genius she is for a rat

Chorus
Play the piano, more legato
Not too staccato if you please
Piano playing, modulating
That’s why she’s named Furry Elise

She’s my piano loving hamster
Tickling the old ivories
Sliding down scales I can’t master with such ease
There is no symphony she cannot play
But I know her secret is sleeping all day
Waiting for me to get home
Brahms & Beethoven & Bach & Rachmaninoff say...
Play the piano

Chorus

MAKING MUSIC

When I wake up in my little bed
I can hear music in my head
Welcome the morn with an English horn

Somewhere there’s a slide trombone
Playing with a xylophone
All outside my window with the first daylight
My family has not heard them yet
But they might wake up to a clarinet

Chorus
It’s a musical day
In each and every way
Give them notes to play,
Now we’re making music.

I’m always in a happy mood
When the rhythm is feeling good
I can do it all to the beat of the drums
In a symphony of tympany
Hear the horn in harmony
All the world can swing when they play those strings
Gather all my friends around
Piccolo go up and the bassoon goes down
down, down!

Chorus

If you hear the cello play
Tell me what the woodwinds say
Marching in the street to that triangle beat
The orchestra begins to swell
To the chiming of the tubular bells
What a great beginning to a musical day
Pizzacado and oboe suit
Tuba dancing with a little flute

Chorus

HOME SOON

From Jeanine: For every parent and care giver everywhere who has to work, travel, or be away from their beloved babes for any reason, may you all arrive safely home soon!

Don’t be afraid, my little baby
Mama’s coming home real soon
Lie down and rest your little head on
Daddy’s shoulder and touch the moon
Kiss the sky, I’ll be with you soon

No tears, no worries to upset you
You’ll be in my arms tonight
You’re my big boy now, you are the brave one
Don’t give up on the good fight
On this good day, a kiss good night

Hearts won’t break with give and take
And love can stretch for miles
I see your tears becoming smiles
Close your eyes and drift my little baby
Floating high above the storm
I will wrap my heart so close around you
To dry the rain, and keep you warm
Safe and sound, with love around
Time to go to sleep, my little baby
Mama’s on her way
Home Soon
Home Soon
