There are four particular charitable organizations that mean the most to me and my family.
The ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States are two that we have chosen for animal assistance.
Let's Show Animals Some Love
Donation collected by ASPCA
I have added fundraisers to some of my recent videos. These are for voluntary contributions from viewers. I do not charge for my videos, but rather request that if you like a video and can afford any donation of any size that you would donate.
We have three rescue dogs living with us at home and that is the limit legally and logically! We highly encourage all people looking for a new pet to "adopt don't shop"
These rescues will love you conditionally all their lives.
Warning: For The Sensitive Hearted
Fact: In the United States 6 to 8,000,000 animals are brought to shelters each year of which an estimated 3 to 4,000,000 are subsequently euthanized including 2.7 million considered healthy and adoptable.
This is outrageous to me and I am sure to you as well.
Although these numbers have declined since the 1970s, most humane societies, animal shelters and rescue groups urge animal caregivers to have their animal spayed or neutered to present the births of unwanted and accidental litters that could contribute to this dynamic.
The ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has been at the forefront of animal rescue and protection since our founding as the first animal welfare organization in North America in 1866. For more than 150 years, we have been the leading voice in animal welfare, bringing the critical protection of animals to the forefront of society.
We’ve led the way in fighting cruelty, rescuing and securing adoptions for animals in need, and driving significant legislative change that protects their lives and welfare—ultimately transforming how Americans value and care for animals.
How do you choose just one?
When you are about to adopt, your heart will tell you which one.
And if you listen your prospective new best friend will tell you too.
ME!
It is a major commitment when adopting a new pet. They could live with you for the next 16 years and will depend on you for food, shelter, companionship, and love. In return, you will receive an abundance of blessings.
Although I am personally allergic to cats, a feline companion might work best for you and your family.
Now that we have covered our dogs and cats, here is our other designated place for charitable donations.
Unfortunately, we became familiar with this deserving organization, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, after our beloved daughter was diagnosed with Type One Juvenile Diabetes at age 11.
That diagnosis changed our lives forever and in the end, shortened the life of my girl.
She passed away prematurely at age 35 due to complications from this insidious disease. One of the most deadly and dangerous complications is kidney failure.
Meg was on dialysis for the last two years of her life, we are committed to helping find a cure so that other families do not have to experience the heartbreak we did.
This cure is possible with funding and awareness.
Our daughter remained the definition of grace under pressure. She rarely complained, even though she had legitimate reasons to complain. She remained an optimist.
And she was so admired, and so deeply loved by everyone who knew her or was touched by her kind spirit.
Did I mention that she was smart?
